The Hidden Benefits of Jade Rolling

Originating in ancient China as part of their traditional beauty regimes, jade rollers are used to massage the face and improve circulation - but they’re so much more than that. I’ve been using a jade roller for years, and not only is it one of my favourite spa-like “self-care” practice that I treat myself to (usually on the daily!) - it’s been a HUGE factor in improving the overall health of my skin. And by “health of my skin” - I literally mean it was a HUGE saviour in helping to rid my acne and actually improve the texture and vibrancy of my skin. Yup, you just can’t make this stuff up folks!

So, why the miraculous results?!

  • The gentle pressure helps to stimulate circulation in the face, and in turn relaxes those facial muscles (goodbye botox)

  • It supports lymphatic drainage, and hence encourages the skin’s natural detoxification process

  • By drawing out toxins, it provides gentle toning and lifting effect

  • It’s naturally cooling sensation (further enhanced if you store your jade roller in the fridge...oh yeah, I went there - and you can thank me later!) helps to calm the skin, de-puff, and soothe inflammation

  • Facial massage (and let's be real...downright any massage!) is an effective stress reliever, and thus this lovely daily ritual can relieve tension and act as your perfect dose of daily self care!

Fancy getting started for yourself?

Of course you do, so listen up: for optimal results, begin by rolling the jade roller on the lower part of the face and work upwards from the chin. Roll in both up and down and sidewards directions - being extra mindful to not roll too hard over the sensitive under-eye area. Remember to wash your face before as it works best on cleansed skin, and I like to add an oil or serum in right before as it makes the process more enjoyable and worthwhile as it will increase the absorption and effectiveness of your skincare products. I do it daily first thing in the AM - it’s my face fitness for the morning!
